The Power of the Purse The first Power of the Purse Auction/Luncheon will be a benefit for Knoxville and Knox County’s Mobile Meals program. Date: September 17 @ Rothchild’s Time: 11:00 am – 1:30 pm We are currently seeking new and/or gently used designer bags There are several drop off locations: Lily Pulitzer Palm Village Store in Western Plaza CAC Office on Aging, 2247 Western Avenue 37921 Senior Financial Group, 100 Glenleigh Ct. 37934 Power of the Purse is a new event that will include a purse sale, a luncheon, and a silent auction. The fun begins with Purse Madness, where purses will be on display and for sale in a range of prices. The purses will each have a surprise gift inside: no peeking until you buy the purse! Items inside the purses can be coupons, gift cards, cosmetics, note cards, small decorative items, and so forth. Next will be lunch and the silent auction, during which, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of items such as designer purses packaged with vacations, event tickets, jewelry, gift certificates, celebrity-signed merchandise, and other donated goodies. “This is a fun event,” Long said. “The money raised will go to delivering hot meals to local frail seniors. Even if you come just to have lunch and hear about Mobile Meals, we’ll be happy. We’d love for you to join in the fun by purchasing a purse or bidding on a silent auction item, but the event is really all about the message.” Tickets are available for $40 for individuals or $300 for a table of eight. Lunch & Concert with Sydni Stinnett at Strang Senior Center

Join us to celebrate National Hot Dog Month with Sydni Stinnett Sydni Stinnett is a 14 year old singer, songwriter. She has been singing publicly since the 5th grade and has performed in various venues, including shows at the Hard Rock Café’ and performances of the National Anthem for the Lady Vols Volleyball and Softball teams at Thompson Bowling Arena and Lee Stadium respectively. For 3 years, she has been the entertainment for the Special Olympics opening ceremonies in Nashville at Lipscomb University’s 10,000 seat Allen Arena (2014) and at the Gatlinburg Convention Center (2013, 2014 and 2015). Performances for the Special Olympics are a personal highlight for her as she feels a special connection to the athletes. In Middle School, Sydni enjoyed singing with the school chorus and was a member of the encore choir all three years. In addition, when she begins High School in the fall, she looks forward to performing with the Karns High School Musical Theater group. Along with those activities, she enjoys performing at local restaurants, nightlife venues, weddings, benefits, church services and any other opportunity there is for her to further her experience. Her drive and passion was present for some time but peaked in June of 2013, when she sang at an open mic night event for a local radio station (Q 100.3). Mike Hammond, the Program Director predicted that she would one day be the Entertainer of the Year. This allowed Sydni to realize that her dream was possible and she is making every effort to accomplish just that. Most recently, in January 2015, Sydni was awarded the “Rising Star”...
